Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

This month on Radio my lovely friend Denise Avis gave her own personal story about how she overcame Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

To hear it again follow this link

Last month we talked about  Adrenal Stress or fatigue and how this effects our bodies ability to
cope with stress and everyday life challenges. It can lead to the “BURN OUT” feeling, often rundown and simply not coping  with life’s  simple tasks. Unfortunately this
can lead to a lowered state of immunity which leads to Viruses attacking  and the beginnings of some diseases.

Our adrenals (little glands that sit on top of our Kidneys)are responsible for the “Fight or Flight” survival response. This causes adrenalin, cortisol and other hormones to become out of balance. After a some period of time the Adrenals have trouble  functioning at their best and symptoms of Adrenal stress arise as these high levels of “stress “hormones are no longer being produced at a healthy rate and start to drop. This can for some people if left untreated lead to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This month my dearest friend and Co worker, Denise Avis has
agreed to come on radio and talk about her own experiences with this.

Symptoms of Chronic Fatigue may include:

*Feeling tired all day, wanting to or sleep for hrs during the day even though you slept  8/10 hrs at night.

*Difficulties thinking straight or that foggy brain feeling, difficulties concentrating & memory loss.

*Aches and pains in your body.

*Feeling dizzy, drop in blood pressure and an inability to cope with temperature changes

*Heart palpitations and shortness of breath

*Troubles with digesting foods, bloating ect. You may have developed food sensitivities or chemical sensitivities like perfumes, paint fumes, new carpets or household goods.

*Sore throat. Tender lymph nodes and Flu like symptoms

*Weight changes that aren’t normal for you.

Chronic fatigue can also be bought on by long term viral infections like Glandular Fever.

From a natural health perspective we look at supporting the person through Diet changes, supplementing with Homeopathic DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone a hormone produced by the Adrenals), lots of Vitamin/Minerals especially Vit C/Bs.

Diet Changes can be a challenge for some people and not all food changes suit all people. Sometimes having Chronic Fatigue upsets the digestive balance so much that you may become sensitive certain foods and food groups. Please seek professional advice or see a Naturopath with experience in this.
