Healthy Happy Kids

We all want our children to grow up healthy happy and well balanced. The best we can do as parents is give our family a diet rich in Nutrients.
Children can be fussy eaters and can also suffer with food intolerances or allergies. This can add a lot of stress to a household as a new path of awareness begins. It has been my
own personal experience to learn to focus on the positive aspects of this as it has taught me about foods and the nutritional needs of our body.
Growing children and teenagers need the right fats (essential fatty acids).From fish nuts seeds avocado and chia seeds.
B vitamins from wholegrain cereals, brown rice wholemeal breads, grains like quinoa, amaranth buckwheat , oats barley and rye.
Calcium , magnesium and iron are essential minerals for growing bones brains and the nervous system. These minerals are found in nuts seeds, dairy, tahini red meat, legumes, broccoli cacao powder, molasses
These days a lot of our day-care centres and schools are nut free(due to the increased Allergies) and becoming more strict on packaged chips and soft drinks in our kids lunch boxes. Isn’t that great!
My tips on easy foods for the lunch boxes are:
Tinned tunas with crackers
All fruits/dried and fresh
Homemade muffins, biscuits and muesli bars.
Vegie patties/salmon patties/lentil patties (all great cold)
Homemade fruit balls/protein balls and chocolate balls (see
recipes from last year “chocolate bliss balls”)
Smoothies are a great snack food or breakfast food as you can put lots of berries, protein powders and nutrition supplements ...once blended together taste great. Popcorn makes a great snack as well and most kids love to make their own.
Recommended supplements if your kids are fussy eaters or on strict elimination diets:
*fish oil/flaxseed oil or a krill oil (for brain development and a healthy nervous system)
*Multi vitamin either liquid or tablet /or a greens powder with all added nutrients( ive also used Super juices like Goji, Acia and mixed vegie juices.
* A kelp tablet is also great as it contains Iodine and 84 essential minerals for the health of every cell in our body especially growing children.
